PERSONAL WORK | COLLAGE
A Place to Expirement
Photography, illustration, typography, texture, and whatever else I feel like throwing into the mix.
These collages are where I get to make things simply because I want to. I use them to play with composition, color, type, and texture, combining pieces that probably weren't meant to go together until they start to feel like they were.
No brief.
Just whatever speaks to me.
Most of my work starts with a goal, a brand, or a problem to solve. These pieces don't. They're a chance for me to follow an idea without worrying about where it needs to end up.
I can try something weird, scrap it, layer something else over it, and keep going until the piece feels finished. A lot of what I discover here eventually makes its way back into my professional work.

MATERIALS
What I work with
I usually start with pretty simple ingredients and experiment with different combinations to see what works best.
Photography
Usually where I start. I cut, mask, crop, and pull images apart until they become part of something completely different.
Illustration
Hand-drawn and digital elements that let me add something photography can't quite do on its own.
Typography
Sometimes it communicates something. Sometimes I just like the way the letters look. Type can be as much a visual element as anything else on the page.
Paper, grain, scratches, torn edges, and imperfections that make something created digitally feel a little more tactile.
Texture
“Simply because I wanted to create something.”
